101 Tips to Help Your Budget (and YOU) at Home – #37, 38 & 39

101 Ways to Help Your Budget and You at Home

37. Think Green
CWAHM reader Tricia Kongos shares a great tip for saving some extra money each month on our electricity bill: “Keep lights turned off in house when not needed.” It’s so easy to forget and leave lights on when we leave a room, but by being more mindful about it, we can make a big difference in the long-run on our bill and for the environment.

38. Think Ahead
“Shop in as far advance as possible…for gifts, for food, for anything!! The longer your able to search for sales and coupons (or Groupons) the better!!”

– Anne Bennett

39. Think Fun
According to experts, Americans, on average, throw away 14 to 25 percent of the food we purchase. That’s a crazy amount of food wasted. One way to use food more wisely is to make saving money (and food) fun! You can make it exciting by making a “game” of using up the food that’s in your cupboards. Gather your kids in the kitchen and work together to see what you can create.
