UNfearFUL

By

Young woman using calculator at homeAround this time last year, I was in the hospital preparing for major surgery. I looked cool, calm, and collected but the truth is that I was an emotional mess and unraveling quickly. Has fear ever taken complete control of your life? Has it grown grotesquely large, entirely or partially blocking God’s position in your life? It is time fear is dethrone and banished from our lives forever!
Maybe you’ve heard it said “do not fear” (or similar) is in the Bible 365 times – once for each day of the year. Our sovereign Lord knew that we would need daily encouragement in the area of fear. Someone once shared with me that fear has an acronym, it’s “false evidence appearing real” – F.E.A.R. Sometimes our minds will amplify a situation to the point that we can’t see anything else, especially God.
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 KJV

Then the scripture goes on to say “every high thing thatexalts…” Paul wrote Corinthians and this man is leaving no room for error. He is covering all bases by saying every thing and carefully placing the word high in the middle. Further explaining, he adds “that exalts” which means it is elevated or lifted in your life.
In the King James Version it says “…that exalteth”, when you see the suffix  eth, it means continually, every high thing that exalteth (continues to be elevated)…it all needs to come down. Paul knew that whatever is raised high in our lives is not in its rightful position. The high place belongs to God alone.
Next we come to the portion that says, “…bringing intocaptivity every thought…” Fears are produced from thoughts and then rapidly grow (potentially out of control). Can I share something with you? Fear was not intended for us to control but for it to control us. It accomplishes this by manipulation (i.e. making false evidence appear real), magnifying situations and resulting in the grand illusion that it is larger than life, larger than Christ. Fear does not fight fair. It will devour you and not think twice about it. It seeks to imprison you. That’s its mission and he is following the order of his master.

SIDE NOTE: Please understand this is not the reverential fear as it speaks of in Proverbs 9:10 which states, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.”

Fear (which originates from a thought) will hold us incaptivity and makes no apologies for it. However, Paul tells us instead to take those thoughts captive. Imprison them until they (thoughts) obey Christ.
The end of the sentence in that scripture says, “…to theobedience of Christ.”
Will you patronize me for just a minute – TKO (total knock out) those thoughts, punch those thoughts in the face, beat those thoughts (fear, bitterness, un-forgiveness, etc.) into the submission of God (the obedience of Chirst) – can you imagine?! If not, try to visualize it…it’ll give you a different perspective on fearful thoughts (or any thought with the intention of being lifted above the position of God).
Lastly we’re going to discuss, “…having in a readiness torevenge all disobedience…”
In other words, have a readiness or be ready, be prepared to revenge or retaliate (return like for like) all thoughts that display any sign of disobedience. Our enemy shows us absolutely no mercy and likewise we should not show him (or his imps) any mercy. Our enemy and his troops are carrying out their battle plans to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) by any means necessary. Repay those thoughts of fear (or any type of elevated thought) blow for blow, in Jesus name! This is an all-out war ladies, the time has come for us to mount up and fight in Christ!
