Circle of Friends – A woman’s quest for the soul of friendship by Sarah Zacharias Davis

Grunge paperDallas/Ft. Worth, TX – The Friends We Keep (WaterBrook Press, July 21, 2009) is Sarah Zacharias Davis’ thoughtful account of her own story and the stories of other women about navigating friendship.

It was during a particularly painful time in her life that Sarah Zacharias Davis learned how delightful—and wounding—women can be in their friendships.  She saw how some friendships end badly, some die slow deaths, and others can surprise, as when a chance acquaintance becomes an enduring friend.

We want to know that a true friendship can survive the years, the growing pains, and the inevitable changes we morph through, and that in the end it will become triumphantly stronger than before,” says Davis.  “When we see glimpses of this kind of friendship, we are touched, changed even.” Read More→

Review: In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms by Dr. Laura Schlessinger

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Review: In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms by Dr. Laura Schlessinger

praise-sahmHave you seen Dr.Laura’s new book? It’s entitled In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms and it’s a in-depth look at what life is like as an at-home mom. Dr. Laura shares about her life as a mom as well as stories of other moms. She talks frankly about why she believe stay-at-home moms are doing what’s best for their kids and delves into issues such as the inner-struggles of at-home moms, how being a SAHM (or WAHM 🙂 affects your marriage and what to do about naysayers.

Need I say that I am thrilled that Dr. Laura has written about the issues that affect stay-at-home moms? I think she has given a face to the argument for being an at-home mom and that we’ll continue to see the trend of moms choosing to stay at home continue. I do, of course, have high respect for working moms as well – you all do what needs to be done and that deserves much respect – but I do agree with Dr. Laura that there are benefits to our kids by being at home with them.
