Posted by: | Comments
Award-winning author Shelley Adina wrote her first teen novel when she was 13. It was rejected by the literary publisher to whom she sent it, but he did say she knew how to tell a story. That was enough to keep her going through the rest of her adolescence, a career, a move to another country, a B.A. in Literature, an M.A. in Writing Popular Fiction, and countless manuscript pages.
Shelley is a world traveler and pop culture junkie with an incurable addiction to designer handbags. She knows the value of a relationship with a gracious God and loving friends and writes books about fun and faith–with a side of glamour. Between books, Shelley loves traveling, playing the piano and Celtic harp, watching movies, and making period costumes.
DVD Review: Tomato Sawyer and Huckleberry Larry’s Big River Rescue
Posted by: | CommentsThe newest Veggie DVD is here and it is adorable. Here’s a brief synopsis:
Meet Tomato Sawyer and Huckleberry Larry – two friends homesteading along the banks of the mighty
Tom and Huck look forward to owning their own land, building a home and opening Huck’s Jerkyland and Tom’s Tax Preparation. But everything changes when they meet a mysterious stranger who is on the run and trying to find his mama. Will Huck and Tom risk losing all they’ve worked for in order to help someone they hardly know? Find out in this exciting river rescue that reminds kids of the importance of helping others.
My kids really enjoyed the story and I, of course, enjoyed the fact that they were learning as they were watching. This particular movie’s lesson was about helping others and it made it easy to talk to my kids about why it’s important to help others and ways that they can apply this to their daily lives.
And, I’d hate to leave out my favorite part … the new Silly Song, The Biscuit of Zazzamarandabo.

Little Cub awakens one morning with some important questions on her mind: What is heaven like? How do we get there? Will we eat in heaven? Will we be angels?
During a delightful day spent wandering their arctic world, Papa gently answers each question, assuring Little Cub that heaven is a wonderful place, “a million times better” than she can imagine. He explains how God has made a way for those who love him to enter their heavenly home forever after their lives on earth are over.

Pregnant Photography

I recently received a scrapbook of my baby shower from a friend. It was beautiful. Each person wrote a note to me and each page was filled with scriptures written specifically to Eli.
I enjoyed looking through each page, reading the notes and praying the scripture over my sleeping child. However, with the turn of each page I cringed at the image of me. On a regular day I am a big girl.
On a pregnant day, I am huge! I couldn’t believe how big I was and that I had survived this difficult feat so late in my life. My girlfriends kept saying how photogenic I was and how cute I looked. I think “cute” is the code word for: as nice a you can look when you have a giant baby inside and have retained more water than the Hoover Dam.
I love Eli and he is a precious addition to our family. But it left me to ponder, can pregnant photography be beautiful? What’s your vote?

Book Review: The Miracle Girls by Anne Dayton and May Vanderbilt
Posted by: | Comments
The Miracle Girls is a sweet novel about second chances. Ana Dominguez has just moved to Half Moon Bay and is doing her best to fit in to her new life. Unfortunately, Riley, the most popular girl in school has singled Ana out for her own brand of high school torture. When Ana and Riley end up in detention together, Ana is sure things can’t get any worse.
As He tends to do, God uses this bad situation to bring Ana together with a group of girls (Riley included) who, like her, are living their second chance at life. Ana realizes that they have brought together for a purpose, but she must now convince the other “Miracle Girls” – maybe not Riley – that their friendship is meant to be.
