Ingredients For Work At Home Mom Success

No comments yet. Your thoughts are welcome »

by Elaine K. Stephen

The #1 ingredient to work at home Mom success is research, research, and research some more!

All too often Moms want all the answers handed to them all at once and fall prey to one experts advice. What is an expert anyway? My dictionary says skills and knowledge derived from training or experience. It does not say someone who knows everything, who will lead you into success for free and will never unintentionally lead you astray. The truth of the matter is, there is just to much information for anyone person to have it all and while experience aids us in making decisions concerning our business, just when you think you’ve learned all there is to know about a subject, things change. The same products weren’t sold in 1950 as they were in 1960 or will they be today. Times change, fashions change, technology changes, therefore business changes. I am not successful with my web site because of any one Internet “expert’s” advice. I am successful with my web sites by using one or a few pieces of advice from many different Internet “experts“.

The #2 ingredient to work at home Mom success is trial and error, trial and error, continuous trial and error!

All too often Moms think once they have their business all set up, the orders will start flowing in, their pockets will start filling up and it’s all smooth sailing from then on. Not true. I launched a beautiful web site full of beautiful products, but I wasn‘t getting orders. I knew I had to get my name out there, but how? I needed to get results in the search engines and advertise. I did research, I made changes to my site, I located many avenues for advertising my site and I monitored the results. I did the same time and time again. Did every change I made work? No. Did some? Yes. Now my web site is profitable, but I will continue to monitor my results and make changes when necessary. Read the rest of this entry »

Back-to-School Fiction

The kids are back in school and it’s time for us moms to do something nice for ourselves. :) Here are just a few of this fall’s great offerings:

eugeniaThe Confidential Life of Eugenia Cooper by Kathleen Y-Barbo

The future is clearly mapped out for New York socialite Eugenia “Gennie” Cooper, but she secretly longs to slip into the boots of her favorite dime-novel heroine and experience just one adventure before settling down. When the opportunity arises, Gennie jumps at the chance to experience the Wild West, but her plans go awry when she is drawn into the lives of silver baron Daniel Beck and his daughter and finds herself caring for them more than is prudent–especially as she’s supposed to go back to New York and marry another man.

As Gennie adapts to the rough-and-tumble world of 1880s Colorado, she must decide whether her future lies with the enigmatic Daniel Beck or back home with the life planned for her since birth. The question is whether Daniel’s past–and disgruntled miners bent on revenge–will take that choice away from her.

Kathleen Y’Barbo is the best-selling, award-winning author of more than thirty novels, novellas, and young adult books, with more than a half-million in print. A graduate of Texas A&M University, she is currently a publicist with Books & Such literary agency.

Sharing the Good News of Easter with Your Customers

NOTE: I know it’s not Easter season, but this is a great article about sharing your faith as an entrepreneur. ~ Jill :)

By: Denise Willms

It’s almost Easter, every chocoholic’s favorite time of year. To the Christian, though, Easter has even greater significance.

Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ after His death on the cross. Because of the resurrection, we have proof that Jesus really was the Son of God and that He had conquered death once and for all. Without Easter, Jesus would be just another prophet or great teacher.

I feel comfortable writing about the importance of Easter in this particular article. My audience is likely to be other Christians or people who are interested in Christianity. If you’re a Christian business owner who serves mostly Christians, you probably find it easy to talk or write about your faith with them, too.

For most of us, though, our customers aren’t necessarily of the Christian faith. If that’s your situation, is it possible to share to Easter’s Good News with the people you serve each day?

Is it even desirable to do so? Read the rest of this entry »

Moms Share Their Tips on Finding Time for God:

I am so excited to be sharing these tips with you! I hope you will post your ideas and tips in the Comments section below! ~ Jill

————————-

I’ve found that I can’t really ‘fit time with God in’.  If I don’t make time with Him a priority.. doing it first before all the other things that are yelling for my attention… it just won’t get done.

I have made it a habit to  say ‘Good morning, God!” when I wake and spend some time praying and listening right then.  Once my feet hit the floor..the demands from my children, home, and work begin.
I also do some Bible studying online… have some good devotionals sent to me so I can keep God’s Word around me, since I am on the computer a good bit.  When I see them e-mailed in devo… I usually know when I need a ‘mid-day pick me-up’ with God…
Before I go to sleep, I always read the Bible… it has become a habit that brings me comfort and settles my mind so I can really have a good restful night.

I look forward to hearing the other women’s ideas!

Ask in Faith, Expect an Answer!

Five Faith-Building Steps To A Powerful Prayer Life

1. Endure: Don’t lose heart. Keep praising God for His goodness. (James 1:1-4)

James encourages us to “consider it all joy” when we encounter trials that test our faith. That may sound difficult. But as we endure these trials, pressing on in faith and believing God has our best interests at heart, we will emerge from the experience “perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” Often, God allows us to go through difficult challenges because those very experiences shape us to receive the answer He has already prepared. Even in the midst of pain, if we can press on — praying, standing on His Word, believing His promises — we will see His goodness bring us to a better place.

2. Stop worrying: Ask God for wisdom concerning your situation. (James 1:5)

God gives wisdom to everyone who asks Him. He gives it generously. He doesn’t think any less of us for asking. In fact, He loves it when we come to Him with our concerns. But the catch is, we have to ask for wisdom to get it. Too many of us reason out problems and come up with solutions on our own — coming to God only as a last resort. God tells us in Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” If we come to Him as soon as we encounter difficulties, He promises to give us His perspective on our situation. He can show us ways to deal with our trials that may never have occurred to us. Read the rest of this entry »
