As Christians our faith is part of everything that we do and say. But, that can sometimes feel confusing when trying to apply it to our business life. How can we incorporate our faith into our businesses and share it with those we want to sell to? I wanted to get another perspective in addition to my own on the subject, so I talked with my friend and the director of our local Christian Business Women’s Fellowship, Debbie Blank. Debbie has been in business and ministry for more than 35 years and shared this great advice with me:
Act Godly
The most important thing that you can do to point others toward Christ is to be who you are. Live in a godly fashion not only at church, but at home, in public and in your business dealings. As the people you deal with get to know you, they will notice that “something different” about you and it just may spark an interest within them to learn more.
Build Relationships
People want to be cared about. If you build genuine relationships with the people that you serve in your business they will learn to trust you. When tough times arise or when they begin to have spiritual questions they will know that they can seek you out and trust you to share the truth with them. Read More→

Posted by: | CommentsHave you lost your spiritual motivation and drive? Has ministering to the needs of others become a chore rather than the joy it once was? Do you feel bored at church? If so, you may need to renew your commitment to spend time alone with God.
Jesus knew that time alone with the Father was essential. As busy as our Savior was with His mission, He often withdrew to pray. In those private and intimate moments, Christ found strength for what He knew lay ahead.
Many believers call these one-on-one meetings with God “quiet times” or “devotions.” They are a basic ingredient in a maturing relationship with the Lord. Quiet times change our approach to God from intellectual, detached, and “religious” to relational. When we give Him an opportunity to do so, the Father will speak to us through His Word and times of prayer in a real, personal way.
One by-product of a strong devotional life is a heightened sense of accountability to God. Spending time regularly with Him is strong motivation to keep sins confessed and bad habits in check. It is also a powerful incentive to resolve broken or damaged relationships. Holding a grudge against someone makes it impossible to have genuine intimacy with the Father.
When We Don’t Draw Near to God
As with any relationship, communication is the key to knowing the Lord better. Where there is no communication, there can be no relationship. Where there is no relationship, there can be no trust. Ideas and resources to help kids cope with deployment

In all my conversations with military wives, it seems one of the biggest trials of deployment is helping children cope. (Understandably so—it’s hard enough for adults to get through it!) Just last month, the Department of Defense released new research findings showing that the number of mental health visits by military children has doubled since the Iraq War first started, from 1 million to 2 million.
But don’t let those numbers make you feel helpless; you’re not. As moms, you can have the greatest positive influence on your children than anyone else in the world. Favorite Bible verses for deployments

Lately I’ve been collecting from military wives their favorite Bible verses which help them get through deployments. I’ve categorized them into topics of strength, fear, peace, trusting the Lord, hope, comfort and compassion, and Scriptures for the daily grind. I hope you’ll find some verses to uplift you within this list. Perhaps you’ll even decide to take your cue from military wife Sonja Mannarino and tape some of these up in key locations around your house. (Read Sonja’s story here.)
Scriptures of Strength
“Be strong and courageous, for the LORD will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Scriptures on Fear
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4). Read the entire chapter here.
“The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1).
“When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4).
“He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord” (Psalm 112:7).
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
“For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you” (Isaiah 41:13).
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God…” Isaiah 43:1b-3a.
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34).
”For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Scriptures of Peace
“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety” (Psalm 4:8).
“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal” (Isaiah 26:3-4).
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:4-7).
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27).
Scriptures on Trusting the Lord
“I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken” (Psalm 16:8).
“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD” (Psalm 27:13-14).
“If you make the Most High your dwelling—even the LORD, who is my refuge- then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone” (Psalm 91:9-12). “Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you” (Psalm 33:20-22).
“But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds” (Psalm 73:28).
Scriptures of Hope
“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 42:11).
“I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2). Read the entire psalm here.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart’” (Jeremiah 29:11-13).

But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, 11as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many” (2 Corinthians 1:8-11).
“God has said, ’Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you’” (Hebrews 13:5).
Scriptures of Comfort and Compassion
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all” (Psalm 34:17-19).
“By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life” (Psalm 42:8).
“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling” (Psalm 68:5).
“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble . . . May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us–yes, establish the work of our hands” (Psalm 90: 14-15, 17).
“The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in Your Bottle. You have recorded each one in Your Book” (Psalm 56:8).
Scriptures for the Daily Grind
“ . . . May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other” (Genesis 31:49).
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10).
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalms 118:24).
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24). Read the entire psalm here.
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer” (Romans 12:12).
“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
“Love is patient and kind, always trusts, never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:4).
“Three things will last forever—faith, hope and love—and the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT).
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” (Philippians 4:8).
“Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way” (James 1:2-4, The Message).
“[God] has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time” (2 Timothy 1:9).
“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! Deployment Love Dare

Many of you have probably been inspired by the movie Fireproof with Kirk Cameron. Perhaps you thought about buying the Love Dare book to try it on your own. But then, did the fact that your husband is deployed right now make you change your mind?
Thanks to the Web site ExcellentorPraiseworthy.com, you don’t have to wait until your husband is home to try the love dare. The people at ExcellentorPraiseworthy.com have adapted the book into 40 online chapters of a “Deployment Dare” — just for military couples during deployment. Suggestions are written for both the deployed member and the spouse at home, so either one can participate, as long as there is Internet access, but it’s not necessary for both to do it at the same time. It may be helpful to also have a copy of Love Dare, but not needed, so don’t let that stop you if you don’t have it! Read More→
