When I’m really into something, I sort of go overboard.  I’ll buy two…or more.  I’ll buy one before I’m even finished with the first one.  I’ll tell people about it.  I’ll recommend the thing.  I’ll put it in my Facebook status.

When I’m really into someone, and this can happen in other non-romantic relationships, I sort of go overboard too.  I’ll send notes.  Buy presents.  Think about them.  Talk kindly about them to other people.  Pray for them.  And, thinking of the few actual romantic relationships I’ve had, I maybe obsessed over each one of them.  Even the non-relationships…the one-way crushes.  Obsessed.

I’m not sure I know how to handle myself in a healthy way when I really like something.  If it’s a thing, I just might discover I’ve stumbled upon a new idol.  And if it’s a person, I’m just needy enough to try to win the affection of said person with a variety of means, trying to ensure that he or she likes me as much as I like them.

But there is a model of healthy relationship that lifts our eyes about the norm, and Christmastime is the perfect time to meditate on such things.  Because the ultimate sacrificial pursuer of our hearts is God when He decided to send His sweet Son to us as a baby…to dwell among us…to teach us how to live and love…to show us a new way…to take on our sin so we wouldn’t have to pay the price. Do you have a child who wants to begin music lessons or who is struggling a bit to learn music? Music Ace Deluxe may be the answer. This easy-to-use computer software takes kids step-by-step through 36 lessons and guides them on their learning journey. My kids are still young, but both enjoy working with this software. My 7-year-old has done especially well with it and I would recommend it to anyone interested in giving their kids some additional instruction in learning music.

grat * i * tude

by Megan Spears

grat * i * tude \grat’i tood’, -tyood\

n: the quality or feeling of being thankful < She showed her gratitude for her husband’s romantic gesture by letting him watch ESPN all afternoon. > The quality of being thankful or grateful – Syn. Thanks, Thankfulness, Appreciation, Gratefulness.

This is the dictionary.com definition of gratitude. For some reason, we spend quite a bit of time talking about what we are grateful around Thanksgiving, but why should we limit our gratitude to just one day (or month) of  the year.

Last year, I read a great article in Real Simple on this very subject of Gratitude that I really enjoyed and love to share with people who need that extra boost of motivation (or reminder) of why it’s important to be grateful.

Oprah talks frequently of living a life of gratitude and that not enough people do it. We get so wrapped up in our own drama or chaos that we forget about being grateful or thankful for all that we have. America is of course the the land of excess…

How does it happen that we loose track of our priorities? Getting back to what really is important is what I have feel this time of year is all about. Knowing what defines you and what you can truly express gratitude for!

I am grateful for…. Read the rest of this entry »

Telecommuting Cover Letter Tips

No comments yet. Your thoughts are welcome »

by Nell Taliercio

You have your resume completed and you want to get a cover letter developed to send along with it. Should you use the same one you used for past onsite jobs? The answer would be no.

Onsite jobs are different than telecommuting jobs. Not only do you not commute to work for a telecommuting position, but employers are also looking for slightly different things from a person who will work from home.

Since cover letters help sell you to the employer, then the cover letter you send with your telecommuting resume should be much different than the ones you have used in the past for onsite jobs. You need to sell them on those things that hiring managers are looking for in a telecommuting applicant.

So, what do they look for?

Home office setup- What does your home office contain? Do you have what the job position requires you to have? Most employers want to know that you have everything you need or at least the major components, such as computer, high-speed internet etc. Read the rest of this entry »

Great Ideas for Your Thanksgiving Leftovers

No comments yet. Your thoughts are welcome »

by O Quinn

hanksgiving is over and now you have a ton of leftovers. Either you cooked the turkey or whomever did sent you home with a fridge full of goodies. In addition to turkey you may have items such as leftover stuffing and potatoes. Even cranberry sauce and gravy.
So just how do you go about making these leftovers into tasty new meals?

Well leftovers and new meals are nothing new. Here are some great ideas for using that leftover Thanksgiving Day fare.

Turkey – Leftover cooked turkey can be made into a number of tasty dishes. Really the meals are endless but here are a few good items to jog your memory.

Turkey Pot Pie – Some celery, carrots, onions and potatoes in a nice gravy under a delicious crust hit the spot for comfort food.

Turkey Noodle Soup. This time sauté your onions, carrots and celery. Add the chopped cooked chicken and some broth. Simmer a while and add uncooked noodles the last 30 minutes.

Turkey tacos. Use chopped turkey instead of beef in your family favorite taco recipe. We saute onions, and pepper then toss with cooked turkey to heat throughout. Served on flour tortillas with cheese and lettuce we love these. Read the rest of this entry »
