I need your help… organizing bible verses
ByI always tell my clients that when we face a challenge it’s important to stop struggling and ask for help.
So here I am, I need your help.
About three or four years ago, I started writing down various bible verses into a notebook. Mostly they were verses I cam across during bible study that would strike a cord or somehow remind me of how God works in my life each day.
The notebook I used was part of my planner that goes with me everywhere. It was so nice having my quick dose of the Word of God when I need it (or when I don’t have my bible on hand). For months, I would document each verse into a list in hopes to improve my memorization and get to know the bible better.
Now, many years later I am overwhelmed with pages and pages of verses… I enjoy going back and reading them when I am stuck in traffic or have a few minutes before an appointment.
Then, a few weeks ago, my planner fell apart. I was really bummed but it was going to happen eventually. As I was transferring all my data information into my new planner, I realized I don’t really have a space in my new planner to track my verses.
I was thinking about just getting a small notebook to carry around just for my verse, but I got to thinking I would ask you… if you write down verses, how do you track and organize them?
I am interested… please share!

CWAHM.com is a dream that God has truly brought to life. I began CWAHM.com in 2000 while learning HTML. I thought it would be a fun hobby and a way to compile all the information I was seeking on working at home. I am a mom of 2 (1 boy, 1 girl), a wife and I do work from home. I accepted Christ as my savior at the age of seven as a Sparky in my church’s AWANA club. I have a Bachelor’s degree from Grace University in Human Development and Family Studies/Bible. I love working from home and I pray that CWAHM will be a blessing in your life as it has been in mine.
It’s a good problem to have! I organize my life verses by theme so I can call on them when I have a need. For instance, if a friend has a marriage issue or a job loss or even a celebration, I have created a list of scripture verses that apply to the event. Call it my personal Concordance.
A friend has her life verses inside a journal with crafty art clippings, multi color pens, etc…I’m just not that crafty.
Hey, girl!
Have you tried looking up the theme of each verse in a concordance, so you can group the scripture references together by topic?
I tried that while writing a devotional, and it made the whole organization process way easier.
Can’t wait to read what others will suggest! Organization tactics tickle me!

Loree
I am a guy… I don’t know if it is allowed that I say something, but I heard you on Berry Moltz and was intrigued by your site. I came here to do some advertising for my site and saw you article. I though you might be interested in this link. http://scriptures.lds.org/en/tg/contents. The concordance is one of the best there is.
Oh, another way that works really well is color codes. A little punch sized sticker you can wrap around the edge of each page. Then have them color coded, for example Red is the atonement, blue holy Ghost, green is money each. Just have a key at the front of your bible to reference them… good luck.
Hi!
One of the best things we did as a family was to follow the example of Dean Merrill in his book Together at Home. He took his verses and printed the verse on one side and the Reference on the other. These were kept in a recipe box.
We did this for our kids and ourselves. It works wonderfully!!! They were always handy and ready to review. Our oldest son just got married – he has almost 200 verses in his recipe box and in his heart as well. Try it – you’ll be blessed as we have been.
You can file them in any order and take along whatever you wish each day by wrapping an elastic around them.
Blessings! Anne
