Is There Any Room?
Byby Cherie Hill
On that magnificent night, so long ago,
Christ our Savior was born into this world.
Yet, there was no room for Him.
“She gave birth to her first child, a Son.
She wrapped Him snugly in strips of cloth and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room.”
Luke 2:7 (NLT)
There was no room on the earth that Christ came to save.
He not only brought hope, love, and peace to all mankind,
but gave us eternal life by dying in our place.
Yet, daily, we find ourselves saying, “There is no room.”
Maybe we allow Him room on Sundays, before a meal, before we go to sleep, when we’re faced with obstacles and crises in life, when our health fails, or when we are filled with despair and hopelessness. But we say, “there is no room,” as we rush to start our day, “there’s no room,” when we’ve got too many deadlines to meet, “no room,” when we’re consumed with anger, bitterness, and un-forgiveness, in our relationships, “no room,” when we are glued to the latest television sitcom that defiles everything that God represents. Whatever areas of life we shut God out of, we can be certain God will not be in them.
And where God does not reside, there is no Victory.
At a time, that only our Heavenly Father knows, our Savior will return and He will come knocking on doors.
Will we be sleeping? Will we have any room? Will we even know it’s Him?
On that Silent Night of Christ’s birth, the world slept unaware of the miracle that was taking place.
As they slumbered in the darkness, they had been given the “Light of the World.” Too many people go through life, asleep.
Not physically, but spiritually. They walk in darkness, because they are unaware of the Light or choose to shut the door to the Light.
So when Jesus returns, will we be ready? How will He find us?
Jesus told us in Luke 21:34 (NLT),
“Watch out! Don’t let me find you living in careless ease and drunkenness, and filled with the worries of this life.
Don’t let that day catch you unaware, as in a trap.
For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Keep constant watch.
And pray that, if possible, you may escape these horrors and stand before the Son of Man.”
What will we miss while we are sleeping, “spiritually?”
The wise men knew to keep watch for the Savior. When they saw the Star of Bethlehem that guided their way to Christ,
they knew without question that the King of Kings had been born.
They knew the prophecy of the Old Testament had told them the Savior would come, and they were looking for Him.
Are we keeping watch over our lives as we knowingly wait on God’s Promise that Christ will return?
Or are we leaving the door open to the enemy and
slamming the door in the face of God by our daily despair,
gloom, anger, bitterness, un-forgiveness, and discontent?
I believe this Christmas message that God has laid on my heart is one that the world must hear.
It presents a question that begs an answer,
and I believe God stands at the doorway in each one of our lives, looks into our eyes and asks,
“Is there any room?”

CWAHM.com is a dream that God has truly brought to life. I began CWAHM.com in 2000 while learning HTML. I thought it would be a fun hobby and a way to compile all the information I was seeking on working at home. I am a mom of 2 (1 boy, 1 girl), a wife and I do work from home. I accepted Christ as my savior at the age of seven as a Sparky in my church’s AWANA club. I have a Bachelor’s degree from Grace University in Human Development and Family Studies/Bible. I love working from home and I pray that CWAHM will be a blessing in your life as it has been in mine.
