This is a great book for families with school age kids – especially kids who happen to hate homework. My daughter is in first grade and still loves homework (strange, I know), but I know that as she gets older this won’t be the case.
If you hear things like “I studied, but I still failed the test” or “I can never learn this.” Then you’ll want to check out this book.
It was written by Sharon Marshall Lockett, founder of Educational Innovations/SCORE, a program validated by the U.S. Department of Education for effectiveness in improving the performance of high-risk youth. She has more than thirty years of experience in public education.
A little more about the book:
“I hate homework!”
How often do you hear things like this from your child? Probably way too often. But there is some basis to your kid’s frustration. Students today have twice as much homework as you did. That’s twice as much reading. Twice as many definitions. Twice the amount of math problems. It doubles the workload for your kids–and the headaches for you. Fortunately, there’s Home Sweet Homework.
Getting involved with your student’s homework will help them receive better grades, have a better attitude, and get accepted to better colleges. And Sharon Lockett, founder of Educational Innovations/SCORE, shows you how! She provides the tools and strategies you will need to conquer your child’s bulging backpack.
Help your children do their homework–and do it right!

Homework can be very a very frustrating ordeal on top of all of the other family business! However, we, as parents, are all teaching our kids something most of the time! How wonderful it would be to have trusted advice on this issue! I have been a teacher for 10 years, but I often wonder if my kids aren’t just getting the leftovers when it comes homework time. I have them read me a story each night and try to make games with sight words and spelling words, but it gets exhausting!!!!
