Because I run a website dedicated to work-at-home moms, I get a considerable amount of email filled with questions about working from home. Without a doubt the question that I get asked most often is, “Do you know of any companies that I can work for from home?” The exciting thing is that yes, I do. In part because of the hard economic times that we find ourselves in, more and more companies looking for qualified professionals to represent their businesses from their own homes. Here is just a sampling of companies currently hiring at-home workers:

1. VIPdesk (http://vipdesk.com) – This company hires home-based workers for customer service positions. They represent numerous high-profile brands such as Eddie Bauer and BlueFly. From their website: “A proven premium service provider with 20 years of experience, VIPdesk specializes in delivering Concierge and Virtual Call Center Services for national brand leaders in several industries that include travel, auto, financial services and retail, by providing high-touch, high-tech branded service platforms that deliver real results and real return on investment.”

2. wiseGEEK (http://www.wisegeek.com) – This is just one of the many websites that pay freelance writers. These sites generally pay per article written. From their website: “wiseGEEK writers get to choose the topics to write on out of a pool of hundreds of titles. You can opt to write on categories that you are familiar with, or venture out a little to explore new frontiers.”

3. Convergys (http://careers.convergysworkathome.com/WorkFromHome.aspx) – At-home agents are nothing new for Convergys, a company who also supplies customer care services to well-known companies. From their website: “As a Convergys Home Agent, you’ll interact with customers of well-known and respected top companies. You may answer questions, determine product opportunities that best meet your callers’ needs, place orders on their behalf, provide technical support, or enroll callers in health, entertainment or other plans.” Read More→

Received this from a friend who gave me permission to share it here on CWAHM:

URGENT update on Haiti

An orphanage collapsed in Haiti & children are caught under the rubble. Urgent prayer needed.

I also heard from 2 orphanages we work with in Haiti and there are urgent needs.

The 133 orphans from For His Glory orphanage are going to be cargo flown to America. However, they don’t know where they’ll all be going. But more important still, the children—many under 3-yrs-old—have to walk several miles through the riotous streets of Port-au-Prince to get to the USA Embassy. The nannies have to juggle caring for the kids & carrying baby formula & water amidst chaos & danger. Once the kids arrive at the Embassy, they’ve been warned there will be no food or water for them. (Makes you wonder what’s happening to donations sent to government organizations.)

The children are hungry & very scared.

On the other hand, the children in Maison-de-Lumière are staying in Haiti for now since they are not adoptable. But they are very scared. Let’s pray that God would have them all come to America if this is a better option for them.

The prayers, then, are for:

*protection, safety  and supernational joy & peace for the children, nannies & workers.

*that God would place each child in the perfect place in USA while adoption procedures are being worked out.

*that God would bring the unadoptable orphans also to America if this is best for them.

*that God would stir up His church, His people as never before to do their part and adopt, foster, get involved in the lives of hurting children.

*that God would show us what to do.

Please also pray for me as I may go to work with Haitian orphans coming to Florida.  This is bad-timing my end because of a lot of paperwork details & some other things. But God’s timing is perfect, not mine. I’m willing & waiting for definition from friends in Florida working on the logistics.

Thank you to those who’ve sent contributions to Orphans First for Haiti (or for any of our orphanages). If you still want to contribute to orphans in Haiti, go to www.orphansfirst.org and click on the Help Haiti Now bar or the Donate button. Gifts are tax-deductible.

On another note, I’ve received BEAUTIFUL pics & reports from India – both from Grace Home in Guntur & concerning the street kids in Delhi. I can’t wait to share these in the future. (For now I’m preoccupied with Haiti but hope to get help posting pics soon.)

I also heard indirectly from a young man who used to be a street boy – a child we helped years ago in Mumbai – Vijay. He’s doing well. There’s a long, sad but beautiful story behind Vijay which I’ll keep for another time. Let’s just say this for now:

When you pour out to hurting children, it is never, never in vain. The fruit is eternal.

I’ll post updates on my blog also: http://janey-demeo.blogspot.com

Thanks for caring.

Administrative assistants are moving from the office back into their homes as the opportunities for working in a home-based environment are growing daily. As modern  technology allows for the transfer of information quickly and easily, administrative professionals are finding it has never been easier to do the office work at home.  Letters, memos and reports are just a click away.   Web conferencing, marketing, publicity, and even bookkeeping can be accomplished from virtually anywhere.

Businesses are also realizing that the same work done at the office can easily be outsourced to a home-based administrative professional.  In fact, many businesses find they are not only getting the same work done, but also experiencing better results.  The home-based administrative professional is highly qualified and trained in the services they offer and therefore excel at these tasks.

These administrative assistants utilize their skills as a virtual assistant—virtual being the operative word.  Being able to do work virtually enables these administrative professionals to do all those tasks normally done in the office.  With all the downsizing and layoffs, businesses are thrilled to be able to have the support they need at a cost they can afford.

The services being offered by these independent business owners are varied and can be found to suit the job. The descriptions that follow are just a few of the services they can provide:

Press Release Writing & Distribution:  Most businesses today could benefit from a great press release, especially when that press release is distributed to their targeted audience.  Many publicity virtual assistants offer this service in addition to other marketing tasks. Read More→
