1. Tell us a little about your business:
My sincerest desire in life is to share the knowledge I have gained as a make-up artist and to make a positive contribution to others. Make-up Access gives me an opportunity to educate women in this subject, improving their knowledge and technical abilities.
I have written an easy to follow e-book, 10 Step Make-up Guide. This e-book offers you the basics for a clear understanding of which make-up products and tools to choose and how to apply them professionally. This book will also explain why you need to use various make-up products and once you have this valuable information, you can design your own individual make-up look by following the steps applicable to you.
I am in this business, because I know that make-up is a very powerful tool in making you feel good. It can truly transform you and bring out all your strong features!
2. How did you decide on your business:
I have been working as a fashion and beauty make-up artist for a variety of international magazines for the last 10 years. During this time period I have been amazed at the amount of women asking me to teach them how to do their make-up professionally. I have always been passionate about teaching other and decided to start a business focusing on educating women in the art of make-up. I decided to start an online business, since I am also a Mom and needed a flexible business that I could run from home.
3. Name the one thing you love best about your business:
I feel very blessed to make a positive contribution to the lives of others and to have the flexibility to work from home.
4. How do you market your business?
The old fashion way, mostly through word of mouth. I also market my business through social media, like facebook and twitter. I have also introduced an affiliate program, were others can market my e-book and earn a commission on the sales.
5. What is your biggest lesson you’ve learned.
Working from home does offer a lot of challenges. It takes a lot of hard work and commitment to be successful. It is very important to persistent and focused at all times.
6. How do you balance work/family?
Gosh, I think this is still a constant challenge for me. What does work at the moment though, is to have strict working schedule and to be organized. When my working hours is finished for the day, I focus on my family 100% and turn my computer off.
7. What tip would you give to those wishing to start a business.
Choose a business that you feel very passionately about. When it becomes hard to balance family and work, at least you are doing something that you love. Ultimately this will get you to follow through and to create a successful business.
Working with a Coach
Posted by: | Commentsby Mary M. Byers
I took the plunge and hired a coach late last year. She’s been a fabulous addition to my team and is worth every penny. Here’s how I’m benefiting:
Accountability: At the end of each session, we identify 3-5 activities for me to complete by our next session. I don’t want to disappointment my coach or embarrass myself so I find I’m highly motivated to get my “homework” done each month.
Advice: I’m able to outline my thoughts and then ask for her advice. Though she doesn’t always say, “This is what I think you should do…” she is always able to ask pertinent questions to help me come to a decision I’m comfortable with.
Expertise: My coach has small business acumen and more importantly to me, is an expert in online marketing, something that intimidates me. I have a lot of questions about how to implement my online marketing ideas and she’s a great resource for getting the answers I need. When I’m stuck, she reminds me that I don’t have to know how to do everything and that between us, we can find the resources to implement even the craziest ideas. Read More→

How To Properly Network On Forum Boards
Posted by: | Commentsby Shelly Hil
When it comes to networking on forum boards, are you building a quality business reputation? Do you even know how to properly network on forums?
I would like to share a few important tips on how to make your networking experience a positive one, for you and your business reputation.
1. Read All Rules and Guidelines. It is very important to read all of the forum board rules, before proceeding with your first post. Rules and Guidelines vary from forum to forum, don’t assume they are all the same. If you feel you can abide by the rules posted, then it’s time to proceed to step 2.
2. Fill Out Your Forum Profile. Your forum profile is very important, so please don’t overlook filling it out. Try to be as complete as possible with the information requested on your profile. Forum members do read new member’s profiles. It’s a great way to let others know about you and your business, without having to spam an Ad. It’s equally important to make yourself a signature tag, while filling out your profile. Most forums won’t allow business links in the body, of the message board post. Read More→

From the FTC: Great Information for Avoiding Job Scams

Job-Hunting/Job Scams
If you’re looking for a job, you may see ads for firms that promise results. Many of these firms may be legitimate and helpful, but others may misrepresent their services, promote out-dated or fictitious job offerings, or charge high fees in advance for services that may not lead to a job.
To Do
Before you spend money responding to placement firms or completing placement contracts:
* Reject any company that promises to get you a job.
* Be skeptical of any employment-service firm that charges first, even if it guarantees refunds. Read More→
Choosing the Best WAHM Forums for Your Work at Home Business
Posted by: | Commentsby Denise Willms
There are hundreds of online WAHM forums designed to help work at home moms just like you. They can be a valuable resource and help you build long-lasting relationships with other moms in your same situation. They can also be a big drain on the time and energy you have for your business.
I haven’t participated in WAHM forums as regularly as many other moms I know, but I have still benefited tremendously from the time I have invested in some of the high-quality forums.
Here are some of the criteria I use to determine if a particular WAHM forum is the right place for me to spend my time.
1. Is the forum owner active on the boards? I prefer to frequent WAHM forums where the owner is visible and makes herself available to the members. Not only does the forum reflect her personality and style, her involvement tells me that she is committed to her forum and her members. Read More→
