Responsible Tweeting
By Pebbles Jacobo
All the news is abuzz with the latest scandal. In case you have been out of touch, it involves a politician, an indecent photo and Twitter. Recently, Gennette Cordova, a college student, received a lewd picture from the Twitter account of New York Congressman Anthony Weiner.
Watching interviews of those involved in the scandal got me thinking about my own social media practices. Do YOU know absolutely everyone you follow on Twitter? While it is a common practice to ‘follow back,’ is it a responsible social media practice? Does it really matter who you follow on Twitter of friend/like on Facebook?
How careful are you about what you post? Remember, once on the internet, ALWAYS on the internet. Once you put something out there, it will be out there forever- literally FOREVER. So, be cautious about what you post. You want to be sure you add content and encouragement to those who follow you. Think twice about the updates you post.
While it might be humorous to repost a video that tickles your funny bone, what about those who receive it? Is it appropriate for a church mom in women’s ministry to post a link to a racy song on YouTube just cause it tickles their fancy?
As for my social media accounts and those of my clients, well, if you are a spammer or bot, you will be deleted. No more fans and following automation software to boost accounts.
How about you? What are your thoughts?

Great article! Love the bird picture, too.
Thanks, Jill!
