One of the biggest gifts that God has given us is our ability to choose. He could have created us to obey Him in every way, but what He wanted was relationship with us, His creation. Relationship is something that happens from a free will, it can’t be forced. So he gave us the ability to choose to obey Him or not. And as we know, Adam and Eve made a bad choice. And so do we many times.
We know that in the old testament God gave His ten commandments, because we need a law, in order to know when we’re doing the right thing or not. The law convicts us of sin. If there wasn’t any law, how could we know if we’re doing the right thing or not?
But as we know, nobody was able to keep the whole law.
God still wanted relationship with His people and so He sent us His son, Jesus Christ, to once and for all fulfill the whole law. By His blood we’re free from guilt and by believing and receiving Jesus as our savior, we have peace with God and can come freely before His throne, as sons and daughters of God almighty.
But when we receive Jesus, we repent from our sin, and we turn away from evil and choose to follow Christ.
We know that Jesus conquered the devil on the cross, but he’s still the ruler in this world. And there are no other rulers. So it’s either the devil or it’s Jesus. There are only two ways to follow, the wide or the narrow. The wide is the devil’s way, that leads to death and disaster. The narrow way is Jesus’ way, and that leads to life – eternal life.
Even tough you are a Christian, you still make choices every day and every minute. You choose what you think, what you say, how you act, what you do…
You can be a believer, but you still have to choose to follow Jesus. That is not the easiest choice. The easiest choice is almost always from our flesh. There’s a price to pay every day to follow Jesus. To make a choice to live by faith and by what the word of God says, requires that we make ourselves a fool for the world. But maybe it would be easier to make the choice if we thought in everything ; “Am I by this choice following Jesus or the devil?”
Jesus has said to us what we’re supposed to think; about what’s right and true and uplifting for others. And about our final goal, which is not here on earth but in heaven. We should think about finishing our race here on earth as well as we can. We can choose to give our time and gifts for the building of Gods kingdom or we can choose to use them for our own pleasure. We should not think or talk like people in the world. We should let the Word from the Bible live among us and talk and sing about it.
Choose to let the Holy Spirit rule in your body, and not your own thoughts, feelings and limitations. We can all make a wise choice; to obey!
