It’s the beginning of another new year. There’s something exciting to me about the New Year. For me, it’s another chance to GET IT RIGHT! So many of us start the year off on the wrong foot. This sets a poor stride for the year. Eventually, we stumble our way through the rest of the year, not knowing how to get back on course. Well, here’s your chance!
My desire for you is that you would start out strong and carry that momentum through the year. A strong momentum can really power your social media marketing efforts through the busy times, as well as the slow times of the year.
To help you start strong I have put together a list of tips just for you:
GET EXCITED!! If you are not excited – truly excited – about your product or services, how can you expect others to ‘jump on the bandwagon’ and get excited? Your excitement and, unfortunately lack thereof, will shine through your every post, tweet and update. Genuine excitement motivates! Read More→
I LOVE social media. In fact, I log several HOURS per day on various social media networking sites. Granted, most of that time is for my clients. I figure it’s a good thing when you can turn something you are knowledgeable and passionate about into a service, which is why I decided to be a social media marketer, managing the social media profiles for clients.
Over the last couple of years I’ve heard all kinds of excuses from clients with regards to why they have decided to cut back on their social media marketing efforts. Here are just a few:
- It doesn’t work for me!
- I’ve seen no real increase in traffic to my website.
- It takes too much time.
- Facebook is just a place where people goof off and ‘act’ like they are working.

Having a social media presence can mean the difference between being seen and missing the boat entirely. I warn you, though, managing your social media accounts can be as time consuming as a hungry bear just out of hibernation. If you fail to set up specific structures and boundaries, before you know it you could lose hours of business time wandering around Facebook, catching up on tweets on Twitter or adding new people to your circles on Google+.
So, what kind of specific structures and boundaries on your time can you place to ensure social media does not eat up all your time? I’m so glad you asked! Here’re a few suggestions: Read More→

Hey all! Social Media Maven here and I wanted to take a few moments today to share some social media faux pauxs I have come across on many occasions.
Over the last five years there has been a tremendous shift between the advertising giant of traditional print media and the coming-of-age relative newbie, social media. By failing to understand or even ignore this “shift in power” you run the rist of alienating your target audience and spending hard-earned money through the wrong advertising medium.
With as much time as I spend on the web day in and day out, not a day goes by that I don’t run across these common social media no-nos. Take note so you don’t miss out on potential new customers or clients. Read More→

Connect and connect alike. If you are on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or even Google+, odds are you are there to network and connect with others. Networking in the social media realm is a great way to make connections, drum up new business, make a name for yourself, establish your expertise within a specific field and even get the latest on news in your chosen field. But how do you do this without getting lost and sidetracked on the likes of Farmville? Here are a few pointers for navigating the social media realm.
Set a Timer. Have problems losing time in Facebook? You are not alone. You go in to check up on one of your pages only to get sidetracked and 10 minutes later you find yourself looking at a completely unrelated profile or page. Yeah, setting the timer works as an audible reminder that it’s time to move on to your next task for the day.

Today I want to talk about increasing your Facebook fan page fans. It is tough for someone starting out, especially if you do not already have a solid support base to begin with. So, what do you do? Like a traditional ‘brick-and-mortar,’ after you stock the shelves and hang out the open sign, you have to do a little advertising, only with social media it’s more networking than advertising.
I bet you’re asking me, “But WHERE do I find the people on Facebook to network with if I don’t already know them?”
You to go to the networking events. Yes, they have those on Facebook. One I was at recently, within 4 minutes of opening the event 215 people had already posted their page link!
Networking is an awesome way to meet new people, interact with other business owners and, in the process, gain new likes for your page. How many likes? Well, that depends on you. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Where are these Networking Hubs?
As I already said, there are lots of networking events going on in any given moment on Facebook. Sometimes it’s called ‘shop-hopping.’ Other times they are ‘liking ladders’ and ‘silent tagging.’ Check out these pages: Read More→

Have you heard the fable about the pail of water and the bird that was thirsty? For various reasons the bird could not get to the bottom of the pail, where the water was. So, the little bird began picking up little stones with his beak and dropping them in the pail of water. Stone after stone after stone and the little bird kept at it when suddenly he noticed the level of the water was raising and the bird could almost reach the water. A couple more stones and bingo! The thirsty bird could now reach the water to drink.
A lot of little things add up to a drop in the pail, and after so many drops that pail begins to fill up. Just like the bird and his pail of stones, there are lots of little things you can do that help to make a huge difference in your social media marketing endeavors, especially on Facebook. Here are a few of those ‘little things:’ Read More→
Social media is a giant that will only continue to grow and evolve. Social media marketing, namely Twitter, can get you on the radar and build your business. How you market your business or services is your business, but by utilizing a few social media marketing basics you are sure to have great social media success. Here is a few basics to get you started:

For many, it’s to keep in the know on upcoming events or product releases. Here is my list helping you know if you’re ready for a Facebook fanpage: Read More→
