We All Have 15 Minutes

One of the biggest time and organizing myths is that you need a huge chunk of time to do anything substantial in your life.
That’s simply not true.
I actually don’t know many people who happen to have hours and hours free just for the purpose of organizing or pottering around.
The thing is, you have to make time. Read More→

3 Must-Use Lists to Manage Your Time

When I do speaking engagements, I always stress the importance of writing things down.
I even give out a beautiful notebook as a door priz.
When you write things down, it frees your mind for more big picture thinking and you don’t have to worry so much about the details.
That said, these are the 3 lists you absolutely must use to manage your time effectively: Read More→
How to Set Healthy Boundaries
Posted by: | CommentsIn a physical sense, it is easy to understand that a boundary marks off where your property starts and where your neighbor’s ends. You are responsible for your property but not for anything that happens on your neighbor’s.
While not as easy to mark off, our emotional boundaries also mark off where our responsibilities start and end. Too many people feel out of control of their lives because they don’t have good emotional boundaries.
Boundaries are like fences in that they keep bad things out and good things in. This means that you protect yourself from things or people that might hurt you and you nurture things or people that help you. Read More→
5 Essential Ingredients to Plan Your Day
Posted by: | Comments
As we approach the end of the year, it seems to get more and more hectic. I thought I’d share some strategies with you that I start off using with my time management coaching clients.
In fact, recently one of them told me, “I can’t believe it; I actually have a life again”. This was after we started incorporating some of the principles I’m sharing with you below.
1. Block out any appointments
Don’t only block out the actual time of the appointment; add “getting ready” time and travel time before and after the appointment.
I used to find myself constantly rushing to a regular morning meeting until I realised I wasn’t factoring in the 5 minutes I had to walk from my car all the way to the meeting venue. Since I added this time, I’m always the first one there, waiting

Eat Your frog

Eat your frog? By now you’re wondering if I’ve gone stark raving mad! No, I’m not mad.
I first learned of this principle from Brian Tracy.
Your frog is the most important task of the day. It is the one thing which, if done quickly and effectively, will ensure your greatest success.
You see, when most people start their work for the day, they already have some idea of what they have to do. Let me give you a specific example. Read More→
The #1 Reason Most People Don’t Achieve Their Goals
Posted by: | Comments
I am passionate about goals and goal-setting for the simple reason that if I didn’t set goals, I would have achieved little to nothing over the last 15 years.
People often ask me how I manage to get so much done, not just on a daily basis, but on a big project or bucket list basis.
The simple answer which is very short and sweet is that I set annual, monthly and weekly goals, and I work towards them. Read More→
My Easy-Peasy Goal-Setting System
Posted by: | Comments
This system is, hands down, the easiest way to set goals for the year.
Have a notebook and pen handy, some quiet space and a nice cup of tea.
- Think back over the year that’s been and write down what went well and what didn’t. This could take up to an hour or longer, depending on how the year went.
- Then look forward and think about what you want for the year ahead. I like to really spend time getting clear on my vision, fleshing it out fully. This is also when I think about my ONE word for the year. Read More→
