“The Lord upholds all those [of His own] who are falling and raises up all those who are bowed down.”- Psalms 145:14 (AMP)

A Work-at-Home mom’s days can be filled with highs and lows, dreams of success and the reality of defeat.

There can be the conflict of whether or not to put on one more video for the preschoolers to watch, while you get just a little more work done. Or you may wonder just how long a baby can wear a wet diaper, before a rash threatens. Then there’s the actual housework and cooking that must get done, and the constant reminder of how much time is left before the older children get out of school.

If you are in business for yourself, there is the added challenge of marketing and being sure you have enough clients to sustain your business, so you’ll have the funds to dole out juice to whining toddlers.

Yes every day is a challenge in its own way, but what I’ve found is that it is a lot easier to manage the days when I am strong in spirit. If you have ever seen the punching bop bag clown, you know that no matter how hard you push or punch he may lean over, but he always rocks back to a standing position.

This is much like the power God has made available to you. You can never be knocked down for good. You may take some blows, but you were created to bounce back into a standing position.

So how do you do that?

The secret is to keep your spiritual arsenal full. That’s right, stockpile scripture in your heart on a daily basis, listen to it, read it, memorize it, speak it, pray it. You will find that it eventually changes the way you view and respond to various people and situations.

So when your challenging day arrives, you are ready to bounce back. No harm done.
How will you fill your arsenal today?

by Cassandra Woods

The CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is recognized as the tallest building in the world standing erect at more than 1800 feet high. Its grand structure aims towards the clouds and can be spotted from almost every location in the city. In about a minute an elevator can whiz you up to the observatory floor. Another elevator can take you 33 stories closer to the top of the building. From that vantage point, on a clear day you can see all the way to Niagara Falls.

That view reminds me of what God has done for each one of us that has chosen to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. When we were at our lowest point, ignorant and living a sinful lifestyle, God reached down and gave us hope through Christ. His love saved us from ourselves, our destructive thinking and from the devil himself. Then God blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. But that’s not all. My God who always does more than we can ask or imagine didn’t just save us, but he lifted us up with Christ to be seated with him. (Ephesians 2:6) Now we can see the big picture.

From the top of the CN Tower, cars and people appear to be the size of tiny bugs crawling along the pavement. And that’s how our own problems should appear as we sit in the throne room of heaven and look at everything from God’s point of view. From that vantage point we have a 360º view, just like the rotating restaurant at the top of the

CN Tower. And from the throne room of God you can see the enemy’s attack coming long before it gets to you. You won’t ever be blindsided. Then you can render the devil virtually ineffective in your life.

Now why would God go through all that trouble? Think about it. Christ says that he came so that we can have an abundant life. He wants us to have more than enough. More than enough love, more than enough joy, peace, health, and money. He lifted us up so that the coming ages can see His kindness to us. (Ephesians 2:7) Now I can’t imagine anyone being impressed if we are always sick, always sad, and always broke. No God wants us to be prosperous and healthy. Then others will see the Light that shines from us and be drawn to Jesus.

The CN Tower actually cuts off all its lights at night because birds are drawn to it when the lights are shining. And so it is when we are filled with joy and peace in the midst of our most trying circumstances. God’s light shines through us. And people are drawn to Him. I’m telling you, it is the ultimate witnessing tool.

Lastly the CN Tower was engineered and constructed to survive temperature changes, fire, lightning, and earthquakes – all elements of nature. And God’s original plan intended for man, who was created in His image, to subdue and have dominion. Through Christ you can participate in that original plan today. You can overcome every obstacle in your way. God has given you the authority to trample over snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall harm you. Nothing I say. And that my friend is the view, from the top.

“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”
-Tolstoy

Which of us would dare wake up, dress up, and go out without ever looking in a mirror? Not many of us, I’m sure. For a long time mirrors have played an important role in our society. They come in all shapes and sizes, from compacts to the full-length types. They can be found in bathrooms, bedrooms, halls, and more. In pockets and purses, and hanging on doors. Yes, they’re everywhere.

We use them to evaluate our appearance, to test the need for a tuck here or a dab there. We want to present a good image.

But who is taking care of the inside, the heart? I am convinced that we must practice regular self-evaluation, in order to live out God’s purpose for our lives. After all, we’re told, the pure in heart shall see God.

So why not tape a Bible verse to your most frequented mirror? Then you can get twice the bang with only one look.

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a
man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself,
goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
-James 1:23-24

Place an encouraging Bible verse in places that will remind you to read it throughout the day. Then ask yourself if you are exemplifying a Christlike attitude concerning your situation.

Who’s calling the shots? That’s a term that generally refers to who’s in charge, or who’s making the decisions. The answer to the question has been known to cause corporations to tumble and relationships to dissolve.

I believe we are all born with an innate desire to be in control. We want to make our own decisions. “We know what’s best for us,” is the sentiment. I’ve seen it in boardrooms, political meetings, churches and schools. I’ve seen it in the eyes of a toddler determined to rebel.

Wherever there are people breathing, you are bound to find a few jockeying for the power to be in charge.

But what if you are a Christian, living your life for the Lord? Do you have the right to take charge of your own life? You certainly can choose to do so. Does serving God preclude our making choices for ourselves?

We are quick to agree that God is sovereign, but is he sovereign in your life? In your house? On your job?

The Bible is God’s word, the guide for your successful journey though life.

Who’s calling the shots for you?

(1 Thessalonians 5:18)

A few weeks ago many of us celebrated Thanksgiving. It is a holiday that brings many family and friends together, to reflect on the blessings that our God has given to us.

It is also a great way to live everyday. When we arise we can be thankful for life.

Since God’s word tells us to be thankful in all circumstances, it must be possible, so let’s give it a shot.

What can you be thankful for? Give yourself 60 seconds. Take out a pen and some paper and as fast as you can, write down things you can be thankful for.

How’d you do? Did you run out of room on your paper? Good for you. Did you get stuck? It happens. Just try it again tomorrow and the next day. You may have to train yourself to look for the positives in your present circumstance. That’s okay and it’s worth it.

I believe an attitude of thankfulness does a lot for our overall well-being. Try it and see what you think.

When economic indicators pointed toward a bleak future for the US economy, government leaders started thinking of ways to prevent a recession.

The result, in 2008 Christmas came early for some, as Americans pulled promised economic stimulus checks from their mailboxes.

Our government revealed a plan that would show the intended benefits, only if the recipients used the funds to make purchases, rather than tucking them away for a stormy day. This plan was an attempt to revive our declining economy, to wake it up, before it needed life support.

I believe something similar can easily happen in our own lives, if we don’t pay close attention to spiritual indicators. One day you could be all excited about God’s will and how you fit into his plan. Another day you could find yourself complacent, simply going through familiar motions or stressed and overwhelmed by the issues of daily life.

What you need is a good old-fashioned revival. As a child I remember guest ministers coming into churches and under tents for a few days, to get people to refocus on God and hear something that would spur them on in their Christian walk. Then off they’d go till next year.

There is another way.

Revival of the best kind is found in something you have access to on a daily basis. It is the ultimate life support. I’m speaking of the written words of God, the Bible.

The Word is alive and capable of getting you in check for any situation. (Heb. 4:12 NIV)

The job market is quite competitive these days. There’s a large pool of potential employees, including new college graduates, displaced workers, and those who are simply seeking a better opportunity.

While salary and location may be two of the top reasons people accept jobs, another major reason is fringe benefits.

Many companies offer a benefits package to their employees. The package may include vacation and sick leave, tuition reimbursement, or a 401 K plan. Due to the high cost of medical treatment, an inadequate health insurance offer could be a deal-breaker for a prospective employee.

Thankfully, most employers understand that offering health benefits can contribute to the well-being of employees.

God himself is no less concerned with our well-being. In fact, serving God is similar to working for a company. We commit to be his servants and he offers us certain benefits. Psalms 103:2-3 says:

Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-

who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,

Most of us would not consider personally paying for a doctor visit or a hospital stay that was covered by our medical insurance. Yet many Christians fail to take advantage of this healing benefit that could make a huge difference in their lives.

God offers the ultimate in medical coverage.

Have you reviewed your plan lately?
