CD Review: Still… by Leah Martensen

Leah Martensen is a talented artist. Her newest CD, Still… , is a great example of her talent. It contains 10 tracks including songs like Ten Thousand Angels, Something Beautiful and The Beauty Of It All. I did have one small complaint in that the CD seems really soft compared to other CDs I own. Overall, though, I enjoyed listening.

Sample tracks can be listened to on Amazon and more information can be found on Martensen’s website.

CD Review: Beautiful Bird by Cindy Morgan

I’ve loved Cindy Morgan’s music for years, so I was very excited to hear that she has a new album out. I’m even more thrilled to have the opportunity to review it!

The CD is gorgeous. I don’t know if music can be ‘gorgeous,’ but that’s the word I’d use to describe it. Morgan’s voice is strong and rich and the songs are full of deep, meaningful lyrics.

The CD has 11 brand-new songs (which you can hear snippets of on Morgan’s website) and each is delightful. My personal favorite is number five, The Sun Shines Through. The title track, Beautiful Bird, is another of my favorites. Each track has a little different feel and it makes for a wonderful listening experience.

CD Review: Wonder Of The World by Rush Of Fools

I was thrilled to get the new Rush Of Fools CD, Wonder Of The World, this past week. Their sophomore release finds them stronger than ever and I think their music, while wonderful before, has matured.

The new CD releases September 16th and features 10 new tracks. My favorite track is Holy One, a beautiful song with a beautiful message.

On their website, the band talks about their new CD:

“It doesn’t matter what aspect of life you’re working on, you always have to learn how to recreate something,” says Wes Willis, lead vocalist/songwriter. “You always have to learn how to grow and change and from a musical aspect, that’s definitely what we’ve done with this album. There was a lot of growth, I think, but not too far away from worship, because that’s who we are.”

I truly love this CD. It’s fresh and meaningful. Ginger Millermon’s own story is a beautiful one and it shines through in her music.

I love to listen to this music as I drive around town running errands with my kids. It always puts me in a good mood and reminds me how truly blessed we each are to be loved by such an amazing God.

Legacy…Hymns of Our Heritage

David Klinkenberg

I have to admit that I’m not normally a big instrumental music fan. However, I was recently sent a copy of David Klinkengerg’s album, Legacy…Hymns of Our Heritage, and it is phenomenal. The music is amazing - so relaxing that I can sit and work and not be distracted, but refreshed, by it! This CD would make a great gift for yourself or for someone special. :) You can even listen to the entire album on his website! ~ Jill

More About David Klinkenberg from the Press Release:

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) September 25, 2007 - Accomplished violinist David Klinkenberg, best known for his touring and performing with highly regarded artist, Jim Brickman, Mark Schultz and as an artist in his own right, delivers his unique style of worship with the release of his latest project, Legacy…Hymns of Our Heritage…Hymns of Our Heritage, exclusive to Family Christian Stores. On this record, which was made available on September 18, Klinkenberg delivers an array of classic hymns tinged with gospel, bluegrass, jazz, pop and old world; played in unique worship only Klinkenberg’s "fiddle" can convey.

From the ethereal strains of "Holy, Holy, Holy," to the Celtic-influenced cadence of "Be Thou My Vision," Klinkenberg takes the familiar melodies on a journey not heard before. On the project, Klinkenberg even offers up a bluegrassy version of "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" and easily transitions to a moving rendition of the world’s most famous hymn, "Amazing Grace." David Klinkenberg’s artistry continuously points you past the performer and toward the Creator.

Klinkenberg has been developing his artistry as a violin player since the age of four. As his talent developed, he began playing churches and local concert halls leading to his current relationship with Brickman and achieving success with his tours of solo performances. But for Klinkenberg, the feeling he gets playing his "fiddle" is nothing short of a powerful worship experience, rather than a mere performance.

"My first memories are of playing the violin," Klinkenberg notes. "And I started playing the violin in church at a very early age, so the concept of worshipping with the violin was ingrained in me as a child. Now it is hard for me to worship without the violin. It was just such an integral part of my spiritual development."

Legacy…Hymns of Our Heritage…Hymns of Our Heritage follows Klinkenberg’s well received Christmas CD, The Carol of Emmanuel, which released last year as his debut Family Christian Stores exclusive. The project has sold in excess of 150,000 units to date and will be re-released this season as well. For more information, visit www.davidklinkenberg.com.

HOW YOU LIVE

Yay! Point of Grace is back after a three year hiatus and their new album is GREAT! I had the pleasure of previewing the album and I must say it’s their best yet. They are known for not only awesome music, but meaningful lyrics as well. This album is no different. The lyrics have a depth that makes you think about how you live your life - where your priorities are found.

I am SO excited the POG is back on the scene. I love this album!

More about POG and How You Live From the POG Press Release: After performing in front of hundreds of thousands of fans and selling over five million albums, Shelley Breen, Leigh Cappillino, Denise Jones and Heather Payne deliver a compelling collection of songs that invite the listener to examine their priorities and take stock of their lives on How You Live.

"This record is a constant reminder for us to celebrate life—to celebrate it in the good and to celebrate it in the bad," says Cappillino. "It urges us to walk along those paths with our friends and family, as well as with strangers and to recognize God’s goodness in all things. My hope is this record will motivate people to be captivated by God."

For 15 years, Point Of Grace has built an unprecedented career, delivering songs of substance. While the groups’ lovely voices and soaring harmonies have entertained, its songs have illuminated the complexities of the human spirit and spurred listeners toward closer relationships with each other and with God. In the process, the group has taken the church by storm, winning eight Dove Awards, two Grammy nods and garnering two platinum and five gold records as well as 29 No. 1 singles, 24 of which were consecutive.

CD: Cosmos - The Send

COSMOS

I love The Send! It’s a band that sounds familiar and yet it’s enjoyable and new. This is one band I know we’ll be hearing a lot more from. They are already topping charts! ~ Jill

More About The Send from their Press Release:

"Lead by front man Joe Kisselburgh, most recently the guitarist for Tooth & Nail Records band Falling Up, The Send features the remarkable songwriting and lyrical brilliance of Kisselburgh and the production of accomplished producer Aaron Sprinkle (The Almost, Hawk Nelson, Jeremy Camp). "An Epiphany," the first single from Cosmos, communicates Kisselburgh’s desire to acknowledge human weakness and his vulnerability as an artist.

With many of the songs crafted during his time with Falling Up, Kisselburgh has been unwavering in his commitment to polish his craft as an artist, with the ultimate goal of making a record that is implicitly personal. The 13-tracks on Cosmos bring a consistently lyrical theme of honesty and reflection, with a delicate musical balance of pop-rock styled influences from artists such as The Police and Coldplay.

With two successful records with Albany, OR based band Falling Up, Kisselburgh ventured out on his own after a productive four year run with Falling Up, to pursue a solo artist career in 2006. Kisselburgh’s brilliant song writing and highly crafted melodies gained his song "The Fall," from Cosmos, a place on Charlotte’s Web: Music Inspired By The Motion Picture, alongside multi-platinum artist Amy Grant, Billy Ray Cyrus and Leigh Nash (Sixpence None The Richer).

The Send will join chart-topping punk-pop band and label mate Hawk Nelson on theTCAA Sports Presents The Faith Nights Hawk Nelson Summer Baseball Tour 2007 Featuring The Send, a 32 city Minor League Baseball tour running throughout June, July and August. The tour will also include concerts in conjunction with Major League Baseball games, which include the LA Dodgers, Minnesota Twins, Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals and the Oakland A’s.

When Cosmos hits shelves on (7/31/07), Joe Kisselburgh will most likely be found doing what he knows and loves–making all-night drives with his band to push on to the next city, to share his soul with audiences across the land. Having honed his touring skills with Falling Up, he knows what lies ahead of him and welcomes the experiences that are on the horizon. Even though he is only 20, he is decidedly mature in his approach to the road; he will do whatever is necessary to get his music out to as many as possible. He plans on performing at least 200 times in the next twelve months, and has already completed national tours with Falling Up, Ruth and The Myriad recently. Look for The Send on tour in the summer of 2007 with industry powerhouses Hawk Nelson."
