I am a big VeggieTales fan. I love that I can sit down and watch the DVDs with my kids and not even have to worry for a moment about content – they are always family-friendly, Biblically based and entertaining. “A Walk in My Shoes” makes viewers stop and think, “What would I learn if I stepped into someone else’s life?” Stressed-out high school teacher Trish Fahey (Nancy Travis, “Three Men and a Baby,” “Becker”) can’t understand her students’ lack of effort in the classroom and why their parents don’t seem to care. This is especially true of Justin Kremer (Cameron Deane Stewart), a popular, skateboard-loving, basketball star who is underperforming in her class. Trish has him suspended from the basketball team and quickly chalks up the situation as a case of bad parenting.

This perspective dramatically changes when Trish meets Molly (Yara Martinez, “My Own Worst Enemy”), a mysterious stranger intent on helping her see things differently. After a car accident, Trish wakes to find herself living the life of Cindy Kremer, the woman she has rashly judged and criticized. Molly helps Trish discover that there is more to the story and learns a powerful lesson that affects everyone she interacts with, including her husband, daughter and the Marine next door. No one is left unchanged.

Yara Martinez, best known for her work in CBS’s “The Unit,” plays the role of Molly. Philip Winchester, who starred as the title role of Robinson Crusoe in the NBC action series “Crusoe,” plays Jake, a Marine who lives next door to the Kremer family. The roles of Cindy and Justin Kremer are played by Jana Lee Hamblin and Cameron Deane Stewart, respectively.

SYNOPSIS:

The Passion of the Christ focuses on the last twelve hours of Jesus of Nazareth’s life. The film begins in the Garden of Olives where Jesus has gone to pray after the Last Supper. Another great Veggietales movie is now on DVD. My kids loved The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything. While it’s not based directly on a Bible story as most of the Veggie movies are, it still has a great lesson to teach – doing what’s right.

Larry and his fellow pirates (Mr. Lunt and Pa Grape) find themselves out to sea when a brave young princess uses her special orb to call for help. The orb is supposed to bring heroes to her aid, but when they arrive she isn’t sure that the orb has done it’s job. Can Larry and friends help rescue her brother from an evil pirate?

My kids loved this movie. My three year old is now considering becoming a pirate when he grows up.

3-2-1 Penguins! are a favorite in our home and their newest adventure was no exception. I now know the movie almost by heart – my son watches it any chance he gets. I have to admit, though, that I enjoy the movie as well. The Penguins are hilarious – especially Kevin. I highly recommend this movie for a family night, special treat or for any kids who love adventurous penguins.

The newest Veggie DVD is here and it is adorable. Here’s a brief synopsis:

Find out in this exciting river rescue that reminds kids of the importance of helping others.

My kids really enjoyed the story and I, of course, enjoyed the fact that they were learning as they were watching. This particular movie’s lesson was about helping others and it made it easy to talk to my kids about why it’s important to help others and ways that they can apply this to their daily lives.

And, I’d hate to leave out my favorite part … the new Silly Song, The Biscuit of Zazzamarandabo.
