Love and War by John and Stasi Eldredge

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Does your marriage need an overhaul? Or maybe just a tune-up? This is a great book for any married couple who wants to reignite the fire! ~ Jill

About the Book
lawWhat the Eldredge bestsellers Wild at Heart did for men, and Captivating did for women, LOVE & WAR will do for married couples everywhere. John and Stasi Eldredge have contributed the quintessential works on Christian spirituality through the experience of men and the experience of women and now they turn their focus to the incredible dynamic between those two forces.

With refreshing openness that will grab readers from the first page, the Eldredges candidly discuss their own marriage and the insights they’ve gained from the challenges they faced. Each talks independently to the reader about what they’ve learned, giving their guidance personal immediacy and a balance between the male and female perspectives that has been absent from all previous books on this topic. They begin LOVE & WAR with an obvious but necessary acknowledgement: Marriage is fabulously hard. They advise that the sooner we get the shame and confusion off our backs, the sooner we’ll find our way through.

LOVE & WAR shows couples how to fight for their love and happiness, calling men and women to step into the great adventure God has waiting for them together. Walking alongside John and Stasi Eldredge, every couple can discover how their individual journeys are growing into a story of meaning much greater than anything they could do or be on their own.

ywbftHis New York Times phenomenon The Prayer of Jabez changed how millions pray. Now Bruce Wilkinson wants to change what they do next.

Anyone can do a good deed, but some good works can only happen by a direct intervention from God. Around the world these acts are called miracles—not that even religious people expect to see one any time soon. But what would happen if millions of ordinary people walked out each morning expecting God to deliver a miracle through them to a person in need? You Were Born for This starts with the dramatic premise that everyone at all times is in need of a miracle, and that God is ready to meet those needs supernaturally through ordinary people who are willing to learn the “protocol of heaven.” Read More→

How long have you been working at home?

Jill Hart – I’ve been working at home since 2000. I had to go back to work full-time for a brief period in 2003 when my husband got out of the Air Force. At that point I got even more serious about making my business work and I’ve been home full-time since then.

Diana Ennen – I’ve been working at home since 1985, when my son was born. He’s now graduated college and already working towards his own career. I absolutely love it. I can’t imagine doing anything else.

Grunge paperDallas/Ft. Worth, TX – The Friends We Keep (WaterBrook Press, July 21, 2009) is Sarah Zacharias Davis’ thoughtful account of her own story and the stories of other women about navigating friendship.

It was during a particularly painful time in her life that Sarah Zacharias Davis learned how delightful—and wounding—women can be in their friendships.  She saw how some friendships end badly, some die slow deaths, and others can surprise, as when a chance acquaintance becomes an enduring friend.

We want to know that a true friendship can survive the years, the growing pains, and the inevitable changes we morph through, and that in the end it will become triumphantly stronger than before,” says Davis.  “When we see glimpses of this kind of friendship, we are touched, changed even.” Read More→

praise-sahmHave you seen Dr.Laura’s new book? It’s entitled In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms and it’s a in-depth look at what life is like as an at-home mom. Dr. Laura shares about her life as a mom as well as stories of other moms. She talks frankly about why she believe stay-at-home moms are doing what’s best for their kids and delves into issues such as the inner-struggles of at-home moms, how being a SAHM (or WAHM :) affects your marriage and what to do about naysayers.

Need I say that I am thrilled that Dr. Laura has written about the issues that affect stay-at-home moms? I think she has given a face to the argument for being an at-home mom and that we’ll continue to see the trend of moms choosing to stay at home continue. I do, of course, have high respect for working moms as well – you all do what needs to be done and that deserves much respect – but I do agree with Dr. Laura that there are benefits to our kids by being at home with them. trouble-parisThe world around us is full of photoshopped, air-brushed images of people we should look like and things we should want. How do we look past it all and find a true, intimate relationship with God? Pastor Mark Sayers offers up great insight and advice for living in this world full of “plastic promises.”

This book isn’t an easy read. It will make you stop and think about your life. It will challenge the ideas and paradigms that you grew up believings. And it will help you see “why your faith does not work” (which is, in fact, the title of the first chapter). If you’re ready for a change, pick this book up and dive in. Read More→

A Note From Jill

CWAHM.com is a dream that God has truly brought to life. I began CWAHM.com in 2000 while learning HTML. I thought it would be a fun hobby and a way to compile all the information I was seeking on working at home. I am a mom of 2 (1 boy, 1 girl), a wife and I do work from home. I accepted Christ as my savior at the age of seven as a Sparky in my church’s AWANA club. I have a Bachelor’s degree from Grace University in Human Development and Family Studies/Bible. I love working from home and I pray that CWAHM will be a blessing in your life as it has been in mine.
