One great way to do that is to be interviewed on radio shows – both “on air” and online. You’ll need to put together a pitch – something that relates to your business and will catch the eye of the media.

Once you have that perfected you will need to find places to be interviewed! One great place to do that is this great little resource: Directory of Business Talk Radio Shows. It was compiled by “Talk Radio Advocate” Francine Silverman who knows her stuff!

If you’re ready to take the plunge into media interviews or just need some new places to contact, this is the resource you’ve been looking for!

About the Book
What the Eldredge bestsellers Wild at Heart did for men, and Captivating did for women, LOVE & WAR will do for married couples everywhere. John and Stasi Eldredge have contributed the quintessential works on Christian spirituality through the experience of men and the experience of women and now they turn their focus to the incredible dynamic between those two forces.

With refreshing openness that will grab readers from the first page, the Eldredges candidly discuss their own marriage and the insights they’ve gained from the challenges they faced. Each talks independently to the reader about what they’ve learned, giving their guidance personal immediacy and a balance between the male and female perspectives that has been absent from all previous books on this topic. They begin LOVE & WAR with an obvious but necessary acknowledgement: Marriage is fabulously hard. They advise that the sooner we get the shame and confusion off our backs, the sooner we’ll find our way through.

LOVE & WAR shows couples how to fight for their love and happiness, calling men and women to step into the great adventure God has waiting for them together. Walking alongside John and Stasi Eldredge, every couple can discover how their individual journeys are growing into a story of meaning much greater than anything they could do or be on their own.

Now Bruce Wilkinson wants to change what they do next.

Anyone can do a good deed, but some good works can only happen by a direct intervention from God. Around the world these acts are called miracles—not that even religious people expect to see one any time soon. But what would happen if millions of ordinary people walked out each morning expecting God to deliver a miracle through them to a person in need? You Were Born for This starts with the dramatic premise that everyone at all times is in need of a miracle, and that God is ready to meet those needs supernaturally through ordinary people who are willing to learn the “protocol of heaven.”

In the straightforward, story-driven, highly motivating style for which he is known, Wilkinson describes how anyone can be a “Delivery Guy” from heaven in such universally significant arenas of life as finances, practical help, relationships, purpose, and spiritual growth.

You Were Born for This will change how readers see their world, and what they expect God can do through them to meet real needs. They will master seven simple tools of service, and come to say with confidence, “I want to deliver a supernatural gift from God to someone in need today—and I expect to!”

How long have you been working at home?

Jill Hart – I’ve been working at home since 2000. I had to go back to work full-time for a brief period in 2003 when my husband got out of the Air Force. At that point I got even more serious about making my business work and I’ve been home full-time since then.

Diana Ennen – I’ve been working at home since 1985, when my son was born. He’s now graduated college and already working towards his own career. I absolutely love it. I can’t imagine doing anything else.

What types of businesses do you operate?

Jill Hart – I run Christian Work at Home Moms, CWAHM.com, a website full of free resources, job listings and information about home businesses. I also write articles and books (yes, more books to come!) and am a blogger for sites like Time/Warner’s Christian Momlogic.com and a member of the Guideposts blogger team

Diana Ennen– I’m the President of Virtual Word Publishing. I’m a virtual assistant and specialize in marketing & publicity. I’ve also written numerous books on how to start a VA business and offer PR and VA Coaching.

Tell us about your book? How do you think it can benefit those who want to start a business?

Jill Hart – The book has been such a “God thing.” He orchestrated the entire sequence of events – from putting Diana and I together as co-authors to bringing us to the right publisher. The book is a hands-on practical guide for anyone who wants to build a business from home. We cover topics ranging from how to select the right type of business for you, to how to get started, to how to market and grow your business.

Diana Ennen – I think one of the best features of our book is that it’s not only informative, but motivational as well. You’ll feel like friends are helping you on your journey to success. Also, we discuss numerous types of businesses to start and provide proven methods to achieve success. We also often hear how starting a business can be so overwhelming. That’s why we pay special attention to all the how tos. We feel very confident our book will help, not only those starting a business, but those already in business wanting to expand it.

What types of businesses are featured in your book?

Jill Hart – We have such a great range of contributors – everything from direct sales companies like Southern Living at Home and Avon to unique product-driven businesses like BSM Media and GrillCharms. These woman are amazing and give readers a great insight into how they’ve grown their businesses in very different ways.

Diana Ennen – We cover everything from direct sales companies to specialized areas such as medical transcription and virtual assisting. Also, Jill shares detailed information on starting a community based membership site. We think you’ll get a lot of helpful tips too from such work-at-home powerhouses as Maria Bailey and Lesley Spencer Pyle.

Do you have any tips for success for Christian entrepreneurs that you’d like to share?

Jill Hart – I think my favorite tip – shared with me by one of our contributors, Tammy Degenhart, almost ten years ago is that working together benefits everyone. She told me, “Jill, what you give to others God brings back tenfold” and I’ve seen that hold true time and time again. It may not be in financial gains and it may not look like what we expected but God is so faithful in that when we work together there is no competition – it’s a win-win situation.

Diana Ennen – Do what you believe in and use your own skills and prior experience to find the business that’s just right for you. Research/Research/Research. The more you research, the better your business. Continue to market and be out there. So many once they find a few clients stop marketing. You need to get out there continually. You then become the go to person when someone needs services or products that you offer.

What are some of the challenges that you see with those starting or operating a business?

Jill Hart – In my experience, I’ve talked with many women who get frustrated because success doesn’t come easily or quickly. Working from home may sound easy, but in reality it can actually be just as hard as working outside the home. There are many unique challenges, especially when working at home while raising children. If women don’t prepare themselves, they can become discouraged and disheartened.

Diana Ennen– One of the major challenges I see is losing belief in yourself that you can do it. That’s why I think a faith-based book will be so beneficial. Even when times get tough, you can rely on your faith to forge ahead.

With the economy, do you believe it’s still a good time to start a business? Why?

Jill Hart – I think it’s a better time than ever. The internet is so much more widely used than it was even nine years ago when I began my website. If people do their research and find a company that fits them as well as their budget this can be a great time to break into the work-at-home field.

Diana Ennen – Absolutely. In fact, I think there’s never been a better time. You might have to work a little harder, but it absolutely can be done. Plus, there are so many businesses who need us more than ever because of the economy. For example, with virtual assistants because businesses are downsizing they are seeking the help of a VA to help on an as needed basis.

Your book is written from a Christian perspective? Tell us a little about that and how you feel that makes it so unique?

Jill Hart – My faith is central to who I am and therefore central to my business. I began Christian Work at Home Moms because I wanted women to have a safe place where they could discuss not only business things, but also talk about an area that doesn’t get talked about a lot in business circles – how our faith affects our businesses. The book is written in a way that doesn’t hit anyone over the head with our faith, but it’s true to who we are and talks about things from the vantage point that we see life – through the lens of our faith.

Diana Ennen – There are so many books out there today on starting a business. However, few have the Christian mom in mind. We provide a lot of scriptures and examples of how you can use your faith to help you. Our hope is that not only will your business thrive, but it might just give a little boost to your faith as well.

It was during a particularly painful time in her life that Sarah Zacharias Davis learned how delightful—and wounding—women can be in their friendships. She saw how some friendships end badly, some die slow deaths, and others can surprise, as when a chance acquaintance becomes an enduring friend.

“We want to know that a true friendship can survive the years, the growing pains, and the inevitable changes we morph through, and that in the end it will become triumphantly stronger than before,” says Davis. “When we see glimpses of this kind of friendship, we are touched, changed even.”

Her revealing discoveries tackle some of the questions every woman asks:

She shares her joys, her pain, her successes and her failures with us to encourage us and give us an idea of how God can take us, sad little lumps of clay, and use us for His purposes. If you’re discouraged or disheartened as a mom, you won’t want to miss this book.

About the book:
In the squash and squeeze of a mommy’s day, could God be shaping something beautiful? In this spiritual memoir, Goyer invites women to discover the extraordinary in the ordinary! Learn to see God’s hand lovingly at work in every aspect of your life—from laundry-folding to the umpteenth reading of Goodnight Moon.

It’s entitled In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms and it’s a in-depth look at what life is like as an at-home mom. Dr. Laura shares about her life as a mom as well as stories of other moms. She talks frankly about why she believe stay-at-home moms are doing what’s best for their kids and delves into issues such as the inner-struggles of at-home moms, how being a SAHM (or WAHM affects your marriage and what to do about naysayers.

Need I say that I am thrilled that Dr. Laura has written about the issues that affect stay-at-home moms? I think she has given a face to the argument for being an at-home mom and that we’ll continue to see the trend of moms choosing to stay at home continue. I do, of course, have high respect for working moms as well – you all do what needs to be done and that deserves much respect – but I do agree with Dr. Laura that there are benefits to our kids by being at home with them.

I encourage you to check out Dr. Laura’s book for some encouragement and a good dose of “you can do it!”

A little more about the Book:
They number in the millions and they are incredibly important to families and to our society, yet are underappreciated, little respected and even controversial. Who are they? Stay-at-home moms.

These are women who feel staying home to raise their children is the right choice for the whole family. Some plan to stay home right after getting married, while others make the difficult transition from career-driven women to homemakers after they have children. Either way, it is a choice that is incredibly rich and rewarding, not to mention challenging.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s latest book, IN PRAISE OF STAY-AT-HOME MOMS, builds on principles developed during her long career as a licensed marriage and family therapist and provides a wealth of advice and support, as well as compassion and inspiration, to women as they navigate the wonders and struggles of being stay-at-home moms.

It’s a great introduction to marketing and is perfect for mom entrepreneurs who are just starting out or are ready to take their business to the next level. The eBook is literally packed with advice, how-to’s, and resources to help entrepreneurs do their own low-cost/no cost PR. In my opinion, it’s definitely worth purchasing it you want practical, specific ideas on how to create and launch a PR campaign.
“Realizing that millions of small businesses need help promoting their products/services but can’t afford to hire a PR agency, UnderstandingMarketing.com today launched the PR Toolkit™, an affordable new e-Book that helps companies generate their own public relations tactics to increase sales and profits.”

More about PR Toolkit:

Authored by John Sternal, a seasoned PR professional of nearly 20 years, the new PR Toolkit provides insight into how small businesses can leverage the power of media awareness to promote their companies and generate bigger profits. UnderstandingMarketing.com offers DIY marketing and PR information for small businesses and the PR Toolkit serves as an agency-in-a-box for any company looking to insource and get publicity on a shoestring budget.

“As a small business owner it’s really important to build ‘buzz’ and get people talking about me, but I don’t have the budget to buy lots of ads or hire a PR firm,” said DeAnna Lorraine, professional dating and relationship coach. “John’s advice has really helped me generate a lot of publicity for my services and I’m now appearing on local and national news shows regularly.”

The Small Business Administration is continuously worried over the health of smaller companies. With lending harder to obtain, a more cost-effective approach to marketing and PR is sorely needed, which is where the PR Toolkit can benefit every small business.

Serving as an all-in-one DIY resource, the PR Toolkit shows the small business owner how to easily identify creative angles and topics for stories, write a press release, develop email pitches that get reporters’ attention, and to build useful and lasting relationships with reporters. The PR Toolkit also includes free resources for getting a press release published in search engines and on news wires, and how to get stories placed for business publicity. Small businesses can even learn how to use social media like Twitter and Facebook for national publicity.

In Come Along: The Journey into a More Intimate Faith, Rubietta invites her readers to a free and more intimate relationship with Jesus. She leads us into new interactions with Him showing us how to encounter Jesus daily, minute by minute.

She gives us a fresh look at how Jesus really wants us to live. We tend to make the Christian life so complicated. We set rules to live by, we depend on Scripture software programs, a new method of prayer, a memory plan, or learning and using the original language. Rubietta concedes this can all help but it can also get in the way. We tend to focus on the tools not on God. That makes us self righteous when all God really wants to do is manifest Himself to us in a vibrant encounter.

I love the way Rubietta shared her discovery of how Jesus loves us perfectly. And when she learned that, she felt safe and also changed. It’s that change that makes us lovely people. Healing comes when we identify with the encounters with Jesus and pray through our issues.

Rubietta challenged me on how I will live today. Will I grow as a result of encountering Jesus? How will the effect be revealed to other people? How will I act as a result of the changes within me?

As you read Come Along don’t walk it alone. Take a companion along with you on your journey. Included in her book is a Girlfriends’ Guide with ideas on how to use each chapter as a stepping stone to deeper friendships and healing in your life.

Jane Rubietta is an award-winner of eleven books. She also speaks internationally on the topic “when a woman changes, the world changes.” Jane co-directs “Abounding Ministries” with her husband Rich, a composer, producer and pastor. She and Rich have three children.

With every sunrise, you can choose to approach the day with an attitude of faith and expectancy. He writes, ‘When you get up in the morning, the first thing you should do is set your mind in the right direction …and then go out anticipating good things.’ Now for the first time, Pastor Osteen offers a tool to accomplish that goal. Based on his book, YOUR BEST LIFE NOW, he offers prescriptions for positive living in 365 daily messages. Each message is accompanied by a relevant scripture.

About the Author:
Joel Osteen is the pastor of the largest church in America with one of the most diverse congregations and over 30,000 members attending every week. He has quickly become a leading voice in a new generation of inspirational leaders and pastors. Under his leadership, Lakewood Church has grown in every area of ministry, more than quadrupling in size in the past five years. In the summer of 2005, the church moved into Houston’s 17,000-seat Compaq Arena and become the new Lakewood International Center. Joel and his wife Victoria live in Houston with their two children. We all have them – those pesky habits that cause our problems in life but that we feel unable to do anything about. I struggle with several myself. Well, I just found the perfect book for you and for me.

Karen Scalf Linamen’s self help book Only Nuns Change Habits Overnight not only jarred me to take action to begin to deal with my bad habits, but also entertained me with humor on every page. She writes as though she’s sitting across the table, sharing my coffee break with me.

If you accept responsibility for your life, why do you sometimes hold back from what you really want to do or be? Scalf Linamen might have some answers. Could you be allowing the memory of other people to hold you back? Do you let what they said about you or to you years ago still define you? Scalf Linamen teaches about the untapped power that will help you to be yourself and live the life you have always imagined.

I always thought poor time management or lack of self discipline were the reasons that I run out of time before I get all of my daily tasks done. I was relieved to learn the real reasons for my procrastinations were emotional. I wasn’t short on self discipline. I was short on better ways to manage the unpleasant emotions that my tasks brought with them.

Karen Scalf Linamen is a motivational speaker and successful author of ten books for women. I agree with Publishers Weekly who penned her as “funny, forthright, and unforgettable”. I dare you to read her book Only Nuns Change Habits Overnight and continue your life unchanged.

The cover alone made me want to read this book. Who can resist a messy toddler?

All joking aside, this is an issue that hit home with me. My toddler is the pickiest eater I know (and I’m a picky eater myself, so I do know…). He currently lives on hot dogs and chicken nuggets. And while I know this isn’t healthy, I was at a bit of a loss as to how to change his eating habits.

Then along came Judy More (a pediatric dietician and founder of the Child Nutrition consultancy) and Feeding Your Toddler. This is a serious parental reference book. It offers sample routines, menu plans, recipes, advice, tips and encouragement. There is an entire section on “healthy eating for vegetarion toddlers” as well as chapters on handling food allergies, children with diabetes and much more.

If I could give a copy of this book to every new parent, I would. If I had read this book before I had my kids I would have avoided many of the issues we’re dealing with now. However, I’m thankful to have found this book now – the future looks brighter (and healthier) because of it.

It’s been a LONG time since my son napped. He’ll be 4 years old this month and though I know there are days that he desperately needs a nap, I have to admit that getting him to actually take one takes longer than the nap itself lasts. At some point I threw my hands up in defeat and just decided “he’s not a napper – at least not anymore.” Boy do I miss those napping days.

When I saw Elizabeth Pantley’s new book, “the no-cry nap solution,” I decided it was worth a look. And I like what I found. Pantley offers practical advice for parents to aid them in the naptime discipline. And she even offers hope for those of use with “non-nappers” – daily quiet times and other suggestions. If you and your child struggle at naptime, you’ll want to grab a copy of this book.

————–

Elizabeth Pantley’s books for parents are as close to a user’s manual as there is. The “No-Cry” books offer remarkably clear and practical advice. This latest book in the series addresses an issue we have all faced and many struggled with: helping our children to nap.

Easy naptime solutions that really work–without any tears.
Kathy Lynn, President, Parenting Today

Naps: Children need them. Parents want them. Here are the tools to make them happen.
Maureen A. Doolan Boyle, Executive Director, MOST (Mothers of Supertwins), Inc.

Does your child:

nap only in your arms, a sling, a swing, or the car?
require elaborate rituals before sleeping?
get fussy, act cranky, or have tantrums due to lack of sleep?
take very short naps–or none at all?

Naps are important to a child’s mood, well-being, and development. The No-Cry Nap Solution offers you a proven formula to allow your baby, toddler, or preschooler to get daily restorative rest. You’ll learn gentle, loving, tear-free techniques, developed by world-renowned parenting expert Elizabeth Pantley and tested by hundreds of families around the world, guaranteed to help you:

Convince any child to nap every day
Effortlessly settle your child for naptime in his or her own bed
Turn short, fitful naps into long, peaceful ones
Establish a nap schedule that works for you and your child
Easily adapt nap routines to your child’s developing needs
Confidently deal with sudden changes, nap strikes, and travel

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elizabeth Pantley’s The No-Cry Nap Solution has been awarded Disney’s 2009 iParenting Media Award for Best Product!
