Another thing to look for is obviously made up addresses. Check the address of the business in Google maps, a common trick is to use a post office for a business location. These businesses are often scams as well.

Hi,for the last 3 years i’ve been trying to forgive a person who is in authority over me.Even though the Lord told me that she is wrong He still asks that i forgive her and not leave the church.I’ve tried to tell her but she is not open to it and always makes me feel like it’s my fault.Everytime she hurts me i forgive her, because i know the spirit working trough her.But my mind doesn’t stop recording all that she has done to me and then the anger builds up again.I want this to stop, but since i still see and work with this person it’s so difficult.She is a spiritual leader and i feel all the time she’s right and i’m not.Thanks for listening

such a great topic and one that I have had such deep experiences in both sides of community… God has given me divine seperation from community to teach me a greater dependance on HIM – but also he has restored me to healthy community that points to HIM in all things… so thankful for the community that God has designed for me…

this post also has me pondering the point that I feel he has been bringing back around too – that I am to ask for what I need and want – sometimes that is the hardest part of community – to be bold enough and trusting enough that others will hear me …

Shanyn, sometime messy is scary. I get that. But I love your comments about “doing it alone is crazy.” We ARE built for community. And we don’t have to struggle alone. And when others do let us down, there’s always God who remains faithful at all costs.

What a wonderful post Carey, and you are so right! We need to stay in touch and stay touching those hearts when the struggle is there, and it can get messy and hard. But doing it alone is crazy, especially when we know there are sisters and brothers in Christ around us, but it seems so sad that many struggle alone. Thanks for this blessing of a post!

Yep, Carey, I totally get your friend’s pain. Same thing happened to me this past year. I’ve been going through a divorce and decided to leave the church that we attended as a family because it just felt too awkward to stay. The sisters and brothers who had walked with us through our marital struggle just stopped calling me after I changed churches. They understood that I wasn’t leaving because I felt uncomfortabe around them but because it was too painful to worship in the same place my former husband and I (and kids) once worshiped in as a family. The pain of being abandoned by my friends only compounded the pain of divorce. But what this has taught me is that I DO NOT want to be that kind of “friend” to anyone else – EVER! I considered these friends my family since all my family is in Colorado and we live in Washington. This is not how the body of Christ is supposed to behave. So in a strange way I am kind of grateful for this experience. The Lord has shown me the kind of christian woman he wants me to be. Thanks for posting this. I know that there are other women out there feeling abandoned as well, and by putting this out there, you are showing them that they are not alone – or at least they shouldn’t be.

Thank you for this post. For many years I struggled with a neurological illness, depression and suicidal thoughts. Many times I was on the brink of taking my life and by the grace of God a friend reached out and pulled me off the brink.

I wrote a book several years ago about the cycle of giving and receiving help. Your observation about why people walk away is very precise, I would also add that feeling inadequate and not sure if you will make it worse. Many do not reach out because they feel like they do not have the skills. What we know as sisters of Christ, is that the Lord is always with us in love.

My life is transformed and now I am healthy, work in a job that brings my God given talents to life and I have a personal relationship with God. I am blessed beyond measure…Prayers going your way…
